Two Oakland police officers working undercover at an anti-war protest in May 2003 got themselves elected to leadership positions in an effort to influence the demonstration.

Pyschologists call it cognitive dissonance when there are beliefs that threaten your previous beliefs that you find it impossible to reconcile, and denial becomes the role that you adopt.

Every member of Congress swears an oath to uphold and defend The Constitution. They have violated that oath.

The First Amendment:

Congress shall make no law.. abridging the freedom of speech..

Congress just passed such a law: Section 602 of the new “Patriot” Act:

SEC. 602. INTERFERENCE WITH NATIONAL SPECIAL SECURITY EVENTS.
[It is against the law to] willfully and knowingly to enter or remain in any posted, cordoned off, or otherwise restricted area of a building… with intent to impede or disrupt...

Violation of this section, and attempts or conspiracies to commit such violations, shall be punishable by 10 years, if injury results or weapon used (even a camera or cardboard sign), otherwise one year.

The Department of "Homeland Security" is seeking RFID devices that "can be sensed remotely, passively, and automatically....The device must be readable under all kinds of indoor and outdoor conditions... and while carried by pedestrians or vehicle occupant."

"Already the Real ID Act creates a de facto national ID since all Americans need a driver's license to participate in modern society," she observed. "Imagine having a remotely readable national ID that can be scanned by the government as you drive by or walk down the street."

This is not new news, but it's been buried by the flood of scandals. There are so many scandals, the left is continually diverted by the next big scandal. Enough of that BUllSHit. This is undeniable evidence, using Bush's own words to prove that he is lying.

In 2004, Bush says "wiretaps require a court order" and "constitutional guarantees are in place". Then in Dec of 2005, suddenly, FISA is for long term monitoring, because they need to move quickly.

In 2004 on the campaign trail, Bush promised his supporters he wasn't spying without warrants. This turned out to be a flat out lie. When did lying on the campaign trail become acceptable? Once it's been proven that a candidate Lied to get elected, shouldn't that alone be enough to toss him out of office?

But even more important than lying to his supporters, is his demonstration of the facts, that he knows that spying without a warrant is unconstitutional.

Bush is openly disregarding the Constitution, spying on political enemies- this is EXACTLY why Nixon resigned, he was to be impeached for domestic spying. Yet our current Congress is content let this slide...

Bush to go after "those who sympathize with the enemy"

Not that George W. Bush needs much encouragement, but Sen. Lindsey Graham suggested to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales a new target for the administration’s domestic operations -- Fifth Columnists, supposedly disloyal Americans who sympathize and collaborate with the enemy.

“The administration has not only the right, but the duty, in my opinion, to pursue Fifth Column movements,” Graham, R-S.C., told Gonzales during Senate Judiciary Committee hearings on Feb. 6.

“I stand by this President’s ability, inherent to being Commander in Chief, to find out about Fifth Column movements, and I don’t think you need a warrant to do that,” Graham added, volunteering to work with the administration to draft guidelines for how best to neutralize this alleged threat.

I don't think you need a warrant? Does Graham not understand the 4th amendment? Either way he proves that he cares not about upholding the Constitution.

On Dec 30th 2005, the President signed the torture bill and he used a “signing statement”- reserving the right to violate that law. Now we know that there is an NSA operation based on the same extreme theory of Presidential power.
The problem with these claims is that they are devoid of any limiting principles. They place this country on a slippery slope that inevitably leads to a maximum leader.

Unfathomed Dangers in PATRIOT Act Reauthorization

A provision in the "PATRIOT Act" creates a new federal police force with the power to violate the Bill of Rights. You might think that this cannot be true, as you have not read about it in newspapers or heard it discussed by talking heads on TV.

Go to House Report 109-333 USA PATRIOT Improvement and Reauthorization Act of 2005 and check it out for yourself. Sec. 605 reads:

"There is hereby created and established a permanent police force, to be known as the 'United States Secret Service Uniformed Division.'"

This new federal police force is "subject to the supervision of the Secretary of Homeland Security."

The new police are empowered to "make arrests without warrant for any offense against the United States committed in their presence, or for any felony cognizable under the laws of the United States if they have reasonable grounds to believe that the person to be arrested has committed or is committing such felony."

CIFA is becoming the superpower of data mining within the U.S. national security community. Its “operational and analytical records” include “reports of investigation, collection reports, statements of individuals, affidavits, correspondence, and other documentation pertaining to investigative or analytical efforts” by the DOD and other U.S. government agencies to identify terrorist and other threats.

Since March 2004, CIFA has awarded at least $33 million in contracts to corporate giants Lockheed Martin, Unisys Corporation, Computer Sciences Corporation and Northrop Grumman to develop databases that comb through classified and unclassified government data, commercial information and Internet chatter to help sniff out terrorists, saboteurs and spies.

One of the CIFA-funded database projects being developed by Northrop Grumman and dubbed “Person Search,” is designed “to provide comprehensive information about people of interest.” It will include the ability to search government as well as commercial databases. Another project, “The Insider Threat Initiative,” intends to “develop systems able to detect, mitigate and investigate insider threats,” as well as the ability to “identify and document normal and abnormal activities and ‘behaviors,’” according to the Computer Sciences Corp. contract. A separate CIFA contract with a small Virginia-based defense contractor seeks to develop methods “to track and monitor activities of suspect individuals.”

VA Nurse Investigated for “Sedition” for Criticizing Bush

Laura Berg is a clinical nurse specialist at the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque, where she has worked for 15 years.

Here’s what her letter said.

“I am furious with the tragically misplaced priorities and criminal negligence of this government,” it began. “The Katrina tragedy in the U.S. shows that the emperor has no clothes!” She mentioned that she was “a VA nurse” working with returning vets. “The public has no sense of the additional devastating human and financial costs of post-traumatic stress disorder,” she wrote, and she worried about the hundreds of thousands of additional cases that might result from Katrina and the Iraq War.

“Bush, Cheney, Chertoff, Brown, and Rice should be tried for criminal negligence,” she wrote. “This country needs to get out of Iraq now and return to our original vision and priorities of caring for land and people and resources rather than killing for oil. . . . We need to wake up and get real here, and act forcefully to remove a government administration playing games of smoke and mirrors and vicious deceit.
