Vatican condemns Israel for attacks on Lebanon
VATICAN CITY, July 14 (Reuters [1]) - The Vatican on Friday strongly deplored Israel's strikes on Lebanon, saying they were "an attack" on a sovereign and free nation.
Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Angelo Sodano said Pope Benedict and his aides were very worried that the developments in the Middle East risked degenerating into "a conflict with international repercussions."
---------------
"Israel has destroyed much of Lebanon's infrastructure from bridges to power plants," The Pope said.
"To kill hundreds of civilians for the sake of two captured Israeli soldiers--who are still alive--is to desecrate the sanctity of human life," said Abraham, 25..
... Pope Benedict XVI similarly called for "an immediate cease fire" to allow humanitarian aid to get to the innocent victims of the violence.

Condi rules out a quick cease-fire as a "false promise"

Kofi Annan demanded an immediate ceasefire [5], but the US is blocking it [6], there are protests around the world [7], and now even The Pope is calling for a ceasefire, but America stands alone with Israel.
There you go, it's US vs the entire world... even The Pope is against US. Isn't this situation quite similar to when Hitler invaded Poland and Czechoslovakia? The whole world was against him, but he did it anyway.... just like Bush invading Iraq, but this time it's our 'ally' Israel.
"The Führer felt obliged to strike back only after Polish troops had crossed the German border at several places. The German fight is a defensive fight. We fight because we were forced to fight..." -- Die Wehrmacht (1939, Nr. 19, p. 2, available online)
This is exactly Israel's line, that the US media perpetuates 24/7, it's always the Israeli 'Defense' Forces vs the Palestinian 'militants' or 'Hezbollah Terrorists"- even while Israel has bombed all major bridges, roads, airports and sea ports, killing 10 times as many Lebanese civilians as Israelis that have been killed, yet they are 'defending themselves'.
Israel claims that the Lebanese government is not doing enough to disarm Hezbollah, but Israel occupied southern Lebanon for 18 years [8] (1982-2000)... so now they are preparing for a ground assault.
The kind of premeditated action that the U.S. representative in Nuremberg at the International Conference on Military Trials -- Supreme Court Justice Robert L. Jackson -- was talking about on August 12, 1945, when he declared that “no grievances or policies will justify resort to aggressive war. It is utterly renounced and condemned as an instrument of policy.” -- FAIR.org [9]
Our support of this aggressive war, and the ongoing tragedies in Palestine and Iraq, have INCREASED the Hatred of America worldwide. Is there any doubt of that? So while Bush and Co claim to be fighting a "War on Terror" they are actually increasing the hatred and hence the likelihood of more terror... it's almost like they want the war to continue....
They do.
America has spent $300 Billion on Iraq and Afghanistan.... who has received that money? Iraqi's? Nope. Soldiers? just a tiny bit... but Lockheed Martin, Bechtel, Halliburton [10], Blackwater Mercenaries, weapons makers, etc...

$9 Billion 'Lost', Republicans choose to investigate steroids [11]
-----------------
When Billions of dollars was lost, our government wasn't interested in finding it. Could it be the $10 Billion/ month we're now spending (charging debt on our children's "credit card") to pay for these wars is why they wish to prolong the war. As Orwell predicted,
"The war is not meant to be won,
it is meant to be continuous."
Now it appears Israel is trying to provoke World War III, and the US Congress fully supports this goal, 410-8 [13].
Israel's indiscriminate bombing has killed hundreds of civilians and is creating ever more Hatred of America. Just like Iraq.
Why is this a good thing- to have the world hate us? If you're invested in Halliburton, then you may get rich, but for most Americans, these policies are not a good thing. We've got $3 gasoline now, and if a wider war breaks out, it could be much, much higher, crippling our economy, forcing more foreclosures, poverty, crime, broken families....
It is clear to me that the US Congress is no longer working in our best interests.
