Congress

Thanks to everyone that voted for me, and everyone that continues to take the truth to their friends and neighbors, as we know:
Denial is unacceptable, Apathy is unconscionable.

I'd just like all Democrats to think about this....

Out of 300,000 votes, 86% want impeachment.
Congress Crtters in favor of impeachment: 1%.

Anyone else see a problem here?

When the Senate returns in September they'll be voting on a bill to end Free Speech on the internet.

Stevens says his internet plan has a "Consumer Bill of Rights", that it's good for average Americans. In fact, the real purpose of the bill is to remove Americans' last avenue of free speech. from the BBC:

[The telecoms] would like to implement a two-tier system, where data from companies or institutions that can pay are given priority over those that cannot.

By creating this "pay-to-play" internet, the corporations will be able to charge whatever they want for net access, and it won't be long before only corporate sites are "in the fast lane". Just like tv and radio, the internet will be controlled by big $$.

Brent Wilkes, indicted lobbyist connected with the Duke Cunningham bribery scandal, talks about the corrupt system used in Congress. Cunningham is not the only one- it's the entire system in place. NY Times:

Mr. Wilkes had set up separate meetings with the lawmakers hoping to win a government contract, and he planned to punctuate each pitch with a campaign donation. But his hometown congressman, Representative Bill Lowery of San Diego, a Republican, told him that presenting the checks during the sessions was not how things were done, Mr. Wilkes recalled.

Instead, Mr. Wilkes said, Mr. Lowery taught him the right way to do it: hand over the envelope in the hallway outside the suite, at least a few feet away.

That was the beginning of a career built on what Mr. Wilkes calls “transactional lobbying,” which made him a rich man but also landed him in the middle of a criminal investigation.

it gets worse...

This is your Department of Homeland Security:

* The Border Patrol paid $20 million for camera systems that failed to work or were never installed.
* A $10-billion border security program meant to track visitors' U.S. entries and departures failed to monitor the departures and was vulnerable to unauthorized access.
* The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) spent more than $68,000 on 2,000 sets of dog booties for canine units. The booties couldn’t be used and remain in storage.
* Customs and Border Protection ordered 37 $2,500 rain jackets for agents to wear while training at an agency firing range, which, it turned out, is closed when it rains.
* The Secret Service purchased 12 iPod Nanos and 42 iPod Shuffles for "training and data storage."
* FEMA can't account for 12 of 20 boats its employees purchased for $208,000 per vessel.

In a measure of how much money has poured out of the department, the report noted that agency spending rocketed from $3.5 billion in 2003, to $10 billion two years later. Over the same period, the percentage of contracts the agency awarded without full and open competition increased from 19 percent to 55 percent, the report said.

$2,500 rain jackets...? Is there such a thing? Who authorized that? Literally, who did authorize that- that's the question I'd be asking if I were your Representative.

The United States is heading for bankruptcy, according to an extraordinary paper published by one of the key members of the country's central bank.

A ballooning budget deficit and a pensions and welfare timebomb could send the economic superpower into insolvency, according to research by Professor Laurence Kotlikoff for the Federal Reserve Bank of St Louis, a leading constituent of the US Federal Reserve.

This "Conservative" Congress has run up the deficit trillions of dollars in just a few short years.

True, I picked June 6th, 2006 because it was particularly funny (sad)- here are some of the day's highlights from the floor of The House:
  • H. Res. 327: supporting the goals and ideals of National Passport Month
  • H. Res. 626: congratulating Albert Pujols on being named the MP for the National League for the 2005 season
  • H. Con. Res. 399: recognizing the 30th Anniversary of the victory of United States winemakers at the 1976 Paris Wine Tasting

There are real problems that need real solutions ASAP, yet our Congress wastes most of their time on BS similar to the above. Then when the important stuff comes up- they don't even read the bills!

And on top of that- they show up to work even less than Truman's 1948 "Do Nothing" Congress.

WASHINGTON — The House of Representatives is on track this year to be in session for fewer days than the Congress Harry Truman labeled as “do-nothing” during his 1948 re-election campaign....

Congressional salary = $165,200 per year.
$165,200 / 97 days = $1,703 per day!

As more and more questions have surfaced about the real events of September 11, most of our congressional representatives react with attacks 'how dare you ask questions'. This audio conversation illustrates how to ask questions in a respectful way, and allow honest answers. After this enlightening discussion, even the skeptic agrees there is enough information to reopen the 9/11 investigation. With Tom Delay gone, perhaps it is time to return to common sense in the House of Representatives and push for a new inquiry on 9/11. This is a partial transcript of 'new investigation'...

Q "If it were brought down by bombs, isn't there chemical traces etc. things like that...

"They hauled everything away right away, that was another problem"

"That's right, even the fire chiefs in their magazine were saying 'this was completely wrong, there had to be a forensic examination that would have revealed the use of these explosives. The company that did all this was a very efficient company by the name of Controlled Demolition Incorporated."

Every member of Congress swears an oath to uphold and defend The Constitution. They have violated that oath.

The First Amendment:

Congress shall make no law.. abridging the freedom of speech..

Congress just passed such a law: Section 602 of the new “Patriot” Act:

SEC. 602. INTERFERENCE WITH NATIONAL SPECIAL SECURITY EVENTS.
[It is against the law to] willfully and knowingly to enter or remain in any posted, cordoned off, or otherwise restricted area of a building… with intent to impede or disrupt...

Violation of this section, and attempts or conspiracies to commit such violations, shall be punishable by 10 years, if injury results or weapon used (even a camera or cardboard sign), otherwise one year.

In the 60s and 70s COINTELPRO had to fight anti-war leaders like Lennon and Abbie Hoffman- this time around they planted the leaders and most Americans follow like sheep. They even have plants in Congress, like John Conyers. Think about it, Conyers investigations always lead to a dead end. He is the master stalling agent for BushCo.

* Election Fraud 2004- Conyers released the 100 page report Jan 5, the day before the big vote. What he couldn't release a summary a little sooner than that? Did you watch the Jan 6th Challenge- Conyers's big moment to speak, he was really weak- then he passed his time to fellow Critter Sanders whose first statement was, "I believe Bush won the election." If Conyers had damning evidence of fraud, then why did he pass his time to someone with the opposite viewpoint? It makes no sense.
