Free Air Time

The FAT Bill:
The Public Airwaves must be used for the Public Good.

* Television and Radio stations will provide Free Air Time for all qualified candidates in all elections.

* 15, 30, 60 or 120 sec spots (back-to-back, order randomized) will air hourly during the month leading up to the election.

* Live Debates will be broadcast weekly during the two months leading up to the election. (For Presidential, monthly debates in the 6 months before the first primary)

Stations that fail to do so will have their FCC license revoked. The airwaves are public, and they must be used for the public good. The purpose of this bill is to end the system of "s/he with most money wins". Hopefully, this will allow good people with the best ideas to be elected, rather than puppets with big $$ backers.

You are absolutely correct

You are absolutely correct in all you have said. I would like to add one thing if I may:
The way campaigns are funded could also be changed to a very simple system that would allow anyone whether a citizen foreign agent or nationality, corporation, or any organization, to contribute any amount they choose (fully tax deductable of course) which would then be added to a central fund matched by federal funds which would then be divided EQUALLY to the nearest penny among ALL eligible candidates. As for air time there would be a weekly lottery of air times for the following week.
And my personal favorite: The much desired None Of The Above Ballot that would nullify all candidates eligibility if it were to receive a winning vote. All votes of course, would be on paper ballots and would be counted on site.
Not only does this end much of the corruption but frees our candidates from all of the whoring of themselves that they must resort to in order to simply stay in office.
No lobbyist that represents any corporate interest would be allowed to lobby congress or their staff nor would any foreign entity or anyone representing their interests as they cannot have the interest of the American people at heart. We must employ the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) principle for the simpler we keep it the more difficult it becomes to corrupt the system.
