The Democratic Primary Election

Dear Alaskans,

Have you heard much about the Democratic Primary Race this year? Did you receive the Official Election Pamphlet with the Candidate's positions? We received the issues pamphlet in late July, but we still haven't received the booklet with Dem candidate info. It's now Sunday- the election is Tuesday... and I'd guess that 90% of Alaska's Democrats don't even know who their choices are to replace Don Young- is this the greatest democracy in the world?

KAKM, Anchorage's public TV station did not invite me to the debate. I had written Steve Heimel of APRN, who works in the same building as KAKM TV- he failed to mention that his sister station was having a debate. I asked him if he'd do a news story with a short clip from each candidate- he said I was trying to get free advertising.... I suggested Alaskans had a right to know about the candidates.... this is your "Public" radio newsman- refusing to cover the Democratic candidates. Alaska's newspapers have refused to print my letters to the editor, most have refused to even run a story mentioning my candidacy. I knew the media was bought and paid for, but this is ridiculous!

If by chance you get the election booklet in Monday's mail, and have just discovered my candidacy- I'm taking Monday off work to talk with you right here on this thread. Ask a question and I'll try to respond asap.

By the way- imagine having a blogger in Congress, being able to talk (via the web) to your Congressperson in a public forum. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to ask Don Young about Exxon in a public forum? That's why he doesn't have a messageboard. Aside from your access to me, I'd also be posting the daily detail of Congress- like when they waste time naming post offices & congratulating wine makers.

Is anybody out there?
