Corporate Media Lies: Iran’s Pres Did NOT say “Wipe Out Israel”

Filed under: misc, headline news, Nukular — ben @ 12:24 pm

The corporate media is full of it- here is the Guardian UK’s headline:

Move to bring genocide case against Ahmadinejad as Iran president repeats call to wipe out Israel

Here is Ahmadinejad’s quote (from the same article):

“Thanks to people’s wishes and God’s will, the trend for the existence of the Zionist regime is downwards and this is what God has promised and what all nations want.”

“The trend for the existence of the Zionist regime is downwards” is a far cry from “Wipe out Israel”. It could even be interpreted that Ahmadinejad is not so concerned with Israel the state, as he is with the current regime ruling Israel.

He also said:

“Israel is about to crash. The Soviet Union disappeared, and this will also be the fate of the Zionist regime.”

Did someone “wipe out” the Soviet Union? No- it collapsed from within.

Are editors across the globe stupid or consciously manipulative?

Spooky: Scientists teach rat brain to fly F-22

Filed under: misc, Spooky technology — ben @ 3:42 pm

The global elite love this idea:

It sounds like science fiction: a brain nurtured in a Petri dish learns to pilot a fighter plane as scientists develop a new breed of “living” computer. But in groundbreaking experiments in a Florida laboratory that is exactly what is happening.

The “brain”, grown from 25,000 neural cells extracted from a single rat embryo, has been taught to fly an F-22 jet simulator by scientists at the University of Florida.

Why do they have to teach it to fly a military jet?

They hope their research into neural computation will help them develop sophisticated hybrid computers, with a thinking biological component.

One target is to install living computers in unmanned aircraft so they can be deployed on missions too dangerous for humans.

I’m sure the warmongers will just love this. Just what they need to keep the citizens in line, if Americans won’t turn on each other, they’ll have the rat-brain, robot planes do it.

Filed under: misc, Democrats — ben @ 7:46 pm

foul language advisory- had to get this off my chest (- ;

Doesn’t it seem like everyone is just waiting for the next big hit…. why are we waiting for them to act, why can’t everyone see that the fucking Dems are letting him off the fucking hook. What a bunch of cheap fucking whores… that’s why Bush is getting away with it all- it’s not the fucking Repubs in Congress- it’s Dems like Pelosi- can you believe the fucking house leader’s plan for Iraq is to have no plan, to let each Democrat choose as they may… Instead of leading the charge, she’s got no official position as “Leader” of the Dems? WTF?!!!

And now this spy thing- they are letting him continue to break the fucking law!!! He bitch slaps them on tv, and says to Congress, I’m gonna keep breakin the law, and you’re gonna keep bending over when Dick tells you to.

What the fuck will it take to get people to realize that most if not all 535 members of Congress are fucking whores!

Visualize: Loud Music in the streets of SF, chants of “Fuck Dick, Fuck Bush, saying it loud raising our fists”… maybe the first protest will start in SF, then other cities will catch on… shut down the fucking system.

Martin Luther King’s Legacy

Filed under: misc, US Govt, Class Warfare — ben @ 11:59 am

For Jonathan Alter at Newsweek:

the central story of the last act of King’s life takes place in Chicago.

Respectfully, I disagree. I believe the speech he made against the Vietnam war on April 4, 1967 - a speech i never heard in school, this was the focus of his life at the end. MLK travelled the country and delivered this speech again and again until he was shot April 4, 1968… funny coincidence, eh?

Speaking out his experiences in the Chicago ghettoes, MLK said,

My third reason moves to an even deeper level of awareness, for it grows out of my experience in the ghettoes of the North over the last three years — especially the last three summers. As I have walked among the desperate, rejected and angry young men I have told them that Molotov cocktails and rifles would not solve their problems.

I have tried to offer them my deepest compassion while maintaining my conviction that social change comes most meaningfully through nonviolent action. But they asked — and rightly so — what about Vietnam? They asked if our own nation wasn’t using massive doses of violence to solve its problems, to bring about the changes it wanted.

Their questions hit home, and I knew that I could never again raise my voice against the violence of the oppressed in the ghettos without having first spoken clearly to the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today — my own government. For the sake of those boys, for the sake of this government, for the sake of hundreds of thousands trembling under our violence, I cannot be silent.

Trust me, it’s much better to Listen to these words from Dr. King himself, listen to these clips of arguably, the greatest speech in history.

(Don’t just listen- download them all and play on MLK Day!)

Bush attempting to establish himself above the law

Filed under: misc, US Govt, headline news, Republicans, Democrats, Impeach, Spying — ben @ 1:08 pm

Dictator: a ruler who is unconstrained by law

re: the illegal spying
Bush is trying to establish himself above the law. He just slapped Congress in the face then, rather than apologizing, he lied about it and told them he was going to continue the illegal spying whether they like it or not. He’s asking Congress to roll over once again, let him admit to an impeachable offense, then let him off the hook again- this time proving to all that Bush is above the law, in effect crowning him America’s first dictator. Perhaps thats even why they did it- to showboat their power to the elite, while the masses of sheep are distracted by gadgets, tv, viagra… there’s a diversion for everyone.

Spying on Americans without a warrant is expressly forbidden in the Constitution. Bush admitted to authorizing this unconstitutional act more than 30 times. This means Bush broke the law. There is no grey area here, Bush broke the law- period.

What’s worse is that Bush knows he was breaking the law, and then continued to lie about it at his press conference Dec 19th when he claimed that he had this authority under the Constitution- an outright lie to America on national television.

Proof: During a series of campaign speeches in 2004, Bush talked about wiretaps and claimed that a court order was always used in cases of domestic spying. We know now that this was untrue- Bush deliberately lied to his supporters on the campaign trail.

To all Bush Supporters: he looked in your face and lied to you.

But more importantly, this video proof of Bush on the campaign trail proves that he knew it was against the law to spy on Americans without a warrant… and he did it anyway as he lied to his followers.

Bush also lied when he said they were only monitoring international phone calls. A leak to NY Times reporter exposed that in fact, the NSA had tapped into the main arteries of America’s telecommunications system. Supposedly looking for patterns of terrorist activity, they were monitoring all phone and email traffic in America.

Maybe they didn’t authorize rogue agents to use this tool to identify dissenters… but they opened the door for such abuse to take place. That is a High Crime worthy of Impeachment.

NOWHERE in the Constitution does it mention Censure in regards to a President. Nowhere. Censure is for Congress to shame one of it’s own, Impeachment is to be used in the case of a renegade President. Bush swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. He broke that oath in a very serious manner and he must be impeached, or the rule of law is dead.

Censure is also BUllSHit for this reason- the repubs will sign on, then claim that’s good enough, any calls for impeachment will be brushed aside as, “we already censured him.” Censure is not good enough.

At this point, there is no need for an investigation. ZERO. All the evidence is in public. The President admitted to an impeachable offense on national tv.

If Congress does not hold Bush accountable, then they are telling the world that Bush is above the law- that he is dictator.

—-
Plan of Action

We The People
remind Congress that they too took an oath to defend the Constitution, from both enemies foreign and domestic. If they side with their buddy Bush, then they too are traitors and will be tried alongside Bush, Cheney & the Neocons when we finally arrest them.

1. Call or Fax (this pdf) Congress and let them know, impeachment or else. Imagine if Kos, TPM, other progressive sites picked up on this, so many thousands of faxes could be sent…)
2. Organize State Of The Union MOSH II protest, gather in DC to put the pressure on Congress the week before the SOTU.
3. Jan 31st, surround the capitol building, project truth videos to the riot cops, remind them that they too took an oath to defend the Constitution.

One more thing… just say no to candlelight vigils- it’s time to be loud and rockin’ - check out these two samples from the upcoming Public Enemy reunion with special guest Paris.

Bush declares he’s above the law

Filed under: misc, headline news, Republicans, Impeach, Spying — ben @ 8:55 am

I’m not the only one stating that Bush has declared himself above the law….

Jay Bookman in the Atlanta-Journal Constitution:

In asserting his right to ignore the law, President Bush has slapped Congress right across the face and told them they better like it.

Congress can now mutter “Yes, sir” and cower in its corner like a whipped dog, as it has for most of the past five years, or it can fight back to defend its institutional authority. Either choice will mark a turning point in U.S. history.

Well put. Wake Up America! Pull yer head out of the stupid sitcoms and realize that a 21st century fascist dictatorship is trying to assert itself. The wannabe dictator shamelessly lied on national tv, everyone paying attention saw it… will he get away with it and become dictator, or will we demand the rule of law prevail?

27 yr CIA Veteran Ray McGovern:

Whether authorizing torture or wiretaps, [Bush] reserves the right to act irrespective of domestic or international law.

The question is whether Congress and the courts will acquiese in this usurpation of their own powers, or whether there are still enough men and women in those branches of government determined to honor their oath to defend the Constitution of the United States “from all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

A glimmer of hope from

Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel, who told reporters:

“I took an oath of office to the Constitution. I didn’t take an oath of office to my party or to my president.”

What is Congress going to do about it? Probably nothing, unless We put the heat on them.

Note to Progressives: Ever notice how all the big name progressive blogs have tons of ads… What would it take to get these bloggers to advertise a DC protest- they won’t earn any money, but they could help give birth to world peace. Are y’all capitalists working for cash, or patriots working for peace? It’s time to show your true colors. Please consider posting an Impeach Now banner, link to any Impeach Bush Now page you desire- just focus on Impeachment NOW- before the next attack.

Someone REALLY wants Troops injected with Anthrax Vaccine

Filed under: misc, Iraq, US Govt, headline news, PNAC, Vaccines — ben @ 12:30 pm

A Brief Timeline of the Anthrax Vaccine

1998-2003: Military Enforces Mandatory Anthrax vaccinations

Dec 23, 2003: Judge Halts Mandatory Vaccinations- Troops shouldn’t be “Guinea Pigs” with an experimental (not approved by the FDA) vaccine

Dec 26, 2003: Defense Department Seeks Court Approval To Continue Illegal Vaccination Program

Dec 30, 2003: FDA Approves Anthrax Vaccine

[Historical context: When Rumsfeld was CEO of Searle (subsidiary of Monsanto) he “persuaded” the FDA to approve Aspartame (Nutrasweet) over the objections of FDA scientists.]

Jan 8, 2004: Pentagon Can Resume Mandatory Anthrax Shots

Oct 27, 2004
: [Same] Judge says FDA approved vaccine illegally - stops mandatory vaccinations again

Dec 10 2004: Wolfowitz writes to HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson “seeking emergency authority to resume administering the anthrax vaccine”

Dec 23, 2004
: Despite judge’s ruling, Pentagon seeks to restart controversial program

The Department of Defense is discussing with other agencies how it might reopen and again make mandatory a controversial anthrax vaccination program despite a second federal court order enjoining DOD from forcing troops to take the shots…

The DOD and vaccine manufacturer Bioport, of Lansing, Mich., assert the vaccine is safe. They point to 18 studies, including one.. saying the vaccine is no more dangerous than any other vaccine.

[Now go get your flu shots- or else ; -]

May 25, 2005: DoD appeals judge’s ban on mandatory anthrax shots

Dec 02, 2005: Still Trying- US asks court to reinstate mandatory vaccinations

Dec 04, 2005: REVEALED- 20,000 Troops Hospitalized after receiving Anthrax Vaccine

It is clear that some very powerful people, including Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz, (both PNACers) really want troops to get this potentially lethal vaccination. And why are they so damned pushy about it?

Able Danger, Bin Laden warning before 9/11 = The Setup

Filed under: misc, Iraq, US Govt, headline news, Spying — ben @ 2:20 pm

NY Times via Crooks&Liars:

“More than three years before the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, American diplomats warned Saudi officials that Osama bin Laden might target civilian aircraft, according to a newly declassified State Department cable…

This whole Able Danger deal is a setup- we could have arrested the hijackers beforehand, if we had these new nazi powers we’re asking for. Give us the power to protect you.

It’s so obviously Orwellian… and it’s coming from proven liars- so why should anyone believe it- they have no credibility.

And most importantly, it is they who will gain from the next terrorist attack, “there’s no time to investigate our corruption, we’ve got to focus on protecting you- give us more power to spy and arrest, even kill, at will.”

100s killed by Tasers

The media reports, “Air Marshalls shoot man with bomb,” but unreported are the eyewitnesses that did not hear the man say “bomb “. (or Bellaciao)

Listen to Bush on the Patriot Act:

In the war on terror, we cannot afford to be without that vital law for a single moment.'’

Freedom or protection- that’s your choice. It is 1984 - the story wasn’t just about a Big Brother Police state, it was about the government terrorizing it’s own citizens into accepting perpetual war and gov’t spying. It’s not to protect, but to take out dissenters. They haven’t dragged too many off yet- but they’re just putting things in place.

* Judge tosses Fourth Amendment
Random searches without warrant, without cause for suspicion ruled OK

* Woman arrested for refusing to “show papers” on public bus

‘This is not a police state or communist Russia’, she thought. From her 8th grade Civics class she knew there is no law requiring her, as an American citizen, to carry ID or any papers, much less show them to anyone on a public bus.

She decided she would no longer show her ID on the bus.

* Bush wants to use the Katrina Failure to change 100yr old law, use military for law enforcement on US citizens, martial law.

* Rep. Cynthia McKinney says (mp3) the US Gov’t had (has?) a plan for martial law “in case of a national black uprising”, they’d like to round up “at least 21 million negroes” and put them in relocation camps.

And they’re going full steam ahead because the fake Democrats rolling over in DC are complicit in covering up the truth about this war, the election fraud, the use of depleted uranium- all of it. $6 Billion per month continues to flow to the war profiteers while these “Democrats” allow Bushco to sink our kids ever deeper in debt.

When the next big one happens, will it be New Orleans everywhere? Wouldn’t it be better to arrest these neoCon-artists before the next attack allows them to clamp down and start the war with Syria and Iran.

Foreign Fighter Lie Exposed: 1300 insurgents arrested- all Iraqis, no foreigners

Filed under: misc, Iraq, US Govt, headline news, Impeach — ben @ 9:43 am

from the Telegraph UK (or Bellaciao):

Iraqis, rather than foreign fighters, now form the vast majority of the insurgents who are waging a ferocious guerrilla war against United States forces in Sunni western Iraq, American commanders have revealed.

Their conclusion, disclosed to the Sunday Telegraph in interviews over 10 days in battle-torn Anbar province, contradicts the White House message that outsiders are the principal enemy in Iraq.

Of 1,300 suspected insurgents arrested over the past five months in and around Ramadi, none has been a foreigner.

There is no reason to stay in Iraq- ALL of the pro-war arguments have been exposed as false (see next post, coming soon). BushCo lied to start the war- now they’re lying to save their asses from impeachment/prison.

Yes Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice et al can be tried for war crimes, and it’s “the obligation of citizens to prevent further crimes from being committed.” Congress as well, and since they’ve neglected their Constitutional duty to conduct oversight hearings on the Executive Branch, they are complicit in this continued slaughter for oil- Congress must be tried as well.

Nobel Laureate Blasts US & UK in acceptance speech: Prosecute Blair for War Crimes

Filed under: misc, Iraq, headline news — ben @ 1:49 pm

from the Guardian UK:

The Nobel prize-winning playwright Harold Pinter has called for Tony Blair to be tried for war crimes, in his acceptance speech to the Nobel committee…

and he’s right on the money:

“The invasion of Iraq was a bandit act, an act of blatant state terrorism demonstrating absolute contempt for the concept of international law,” he said.

“The invasion was an arbitrary military action inspired by a series of lies upon lies and gross manipulation of the media and therefore of the public … a formidable assertion of military force responsible for the death and mutilation of thousands and thousands of innocent people.

“We have brought torture, cluster bombs, depleted uranium, innumerable acts of random murder, misery, degradation and death to the Iraqi people, and call it ‘bringing freedom and democracy to the Middle East’.”

Several Congressmen implicated in Cunningham Bribe Scandal

Filed under: misc, Iraq, US Govt, headline news — ben @ 12:28 pm

What determines how a US CongressCritter votes? What if you could offer a “Hospitality suite” with several bedrooms?

And if you want lucrative contracts, you’d better give $630,000 to a “lobbying firm” run by Tom Delay’s Ex-Chief of Staff or “Delay’s going to screw you.” Brent Wilkes ran a firm called ADCS- they perfom “Document conversion services” - they scan stuff into a computer, and Brent gets million dollar contracts for scanning stuff, like a $10 million job to scan blueprints of public buildings in Panama- just in case the Chinese invade- I kid you not. What’s even worse is that the Undersecretary of Defense at the time wanted the money for more important projects, but “two Congressman” over-ruled him.

This article from the San Diego Union-Tribune documents how “the wheels are greased” in our current, corrupt political system. (or Bellaciao.org)

House Speaker Dennis Hastert also flew on Wilkes’ jet several times, sources say, although Hastert’s expense records show no payments for such trips.

The Speaker of the House took vacations with a guy who ran a DC Brothel… I wonder who was on the plane and at the resort with Mr. Speaker…

Other Wilkes buddies include GW Bush (Wilkes was State Finance Co-Chair) and Gov. Arnold:

“Other than Wilkes’ donations to federal campaigns, his biggest contributions went to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Besides helping coordinate the Schwarzenegger campaign’s finance activities in San Diego County during the 2003 recall election, Wilkes and his wife donated $42,400 to Schwarzenegger, the maximum allowable. The next year, Wilkes allowed Schwarzenegger to use ADCS’ headquarters as a local office for his 2004 workers’ compensation initiative campaign.

Schwarzenegger appointed Wilkes as a board member of the Del Mar Race Track Board in 2004 and the State Race Track Leasing Commission this year.”

Donated money = appointed board member- isn’t that a direct link, no investigation necessary. The Governator should be ousted today.

But how do we know Wilkes was scamming? Did he really provide services worth his price? No he took the money and partied:

In 1999, Wilkes and his wife bought a $1.5 million home in the Poway hills. He soon bought a second home: a $283,500 town house in the Virginia suburbs near Washington, D.C. During his visits to Washington, he made his rounds in a chauffeur-driven Mercedes. At the Capital Grille, a favored hangout of legislators and lobbyists, he rented a personalized wine locker with his best friend Foggo.

Wilkes spread his taxpayer-provided funds throughout his company, taking executives on periodic retreats to Hawaii and Idaho.

In Honolulu, Wilkes stayed at suites at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel or rented the beachfront mansion of the late hairstyling mogul Paul Mitchell, which typically goes for $50,000 a week.

Is this not proof that he was robbing US blind, charging millions for a job that would cost him pennies on the dollar. 200,000 homeless vets and this greedy SOB is stealing money while Bush and Congress cut Veterans Health Benefits- it’s sick. But Wilkes isn’t alone- how did he get the money? Earmarks

“An earmark is usually devoted to a particular company or particular project that is tied to a particular congressman,” said Michael Surrusco, director of ethics campaigns at Common Cause, a government watchdog group.

Earmarks are typically added to budget bills after they have been passed by the Senate and the House and the differing versions are being resolved in a conference committee. Because those meeting occur outside public view, the earmarks can be a way of avoiding scrutiny or accountability.

I would like to see a list of all earmarks attached in the last 5 years- listed by CongressCritter last name. How do “We the People” demand that?

Flashback: Cheney Lied about Iraqis meeting with Mohammed Atta- even after the CIA told him otherwise

Filed under: misc, Iraq, US Govt, headline news, PNAC, Republicans, Impeach — ben @ 11:15 am

from this excellent article by Murray Waas:

“You can’t distinguish between Al Qaeda and Saddam when you talk about the war on terror,” President Bush said on September 25, 2002.

The next day, Rumsfeld said, “We have what we consider to be credible evidence that Al Qaeda leaders have sought contacts with Iraq who could help them acquire … weapons-of-mass-destruction capabilities.”

The most explosive of allegations came from Cheney, who said that September 11 hijacker Mohammed Atta, the pilot of the first plane to crash into the World Trade Center, had met in Prague, in the Czech Republic, with a senior Iraqi intelligence agent, Ahmed Khalil Ibrahim Samir al-Ani, five months before the attacks. On December 9, 2001, Cheney said on NBC’s Meet the Press: “[I]t’s pretty well confirmed that [Atta] did go to Prague and he did meet with a senior official of the Iraqi intelligence service in [the Czech Republic] last April, several months before the attack.”

Cheney continued to make the charge, even after he was briefed, according to government records and officials, that both the CIA and the FBI discounted the possibility of such a meeting.

The CIA & the FBI told him it never happened- yet Cheney continued to make the claim, intentionally lying to America again and again. We don’t need no stinkin investigation, this liar should be impeached- now.

Corrupt Congressman Cunningham illustrates how US ended up in Iraq

Filed under: misc, Iraq, US Govt, headline news — Lula @ 7:21 am

cunninghamCrying in Public, Congressman Cunningham hoping to gain sympathy for his crimes against humanity, admits to taking bribes and resigns from congress. Does anyone believe this display of regret would have occured had he not been caught?

from Washington Post

Prosecutors said Cunningham, an eight-term House member, “demanded, sought and received” illicit payments in the form of cash, home payments, furnishings, cars and vacations from four co-conspirators, including two defense contractors, over the past five years.

Cunningham, a member of the influential House Appropriations defense subcommittee and the intelligence committee, answered “Yes, Your Honor,” when asked by U.S. District Judge Larry A. Burns if he had accepted bribes in exchange for his performance of official duties.

U.S. Attorney Carol C. Lam told reporters that Cunningham “did the worst thing an elected official can do — he enriched himself through his position and violated the trust of those that put him there.”

The question I have not seen asked very often is why was he given bribes? What did he do on his end? This is not just a crime against the American people, this is a crime against humanity, most obviously the Iraqi people, because there is no doubt that these bribes secured his vote for the illegal invasion of Iraq. Being on both the House Appropriations committee and House intelligence committee, besides steering lucrative defense contracts, these bribes secured his silence on the obvious corruption in Iraq and his no vote on any sort hearing that might lead to accountability of those responsible.

I hope that the rest of our corrupt congress is running scared because they should be. The American people have finally realized the depth of greed of politicians in this country and this is only the beginning of the revolution in congress. One by one we will expose these greedy immoral bastards….who is next?

Napalm & White Phosphorus in Iraq

Filed under: misc, Iraq, US Govt, headline news — ben @ 8:52 am

As brief as possible, the lowdown on the use of Napalm and White Phosphorus in Iraq.

Iraqi news sources reported napalm use during the initial phase of war, the US denied it. Then had to recant their denial after a Col. admitted to its use. Napalm was banned by the Geneva conventions.

Then during the Nov 2004 Falluja attack (which began the day after Bush’s ‘re-election’ as a diversion from the blatant election fraud) islam-online.net reported that the US was gassing Falluja. The US denied it, but then a year later the Italian TV documentary with US troops claiming they were trained to use WP, and they heard it’s nickname, “Whiskey Pete” called for on the radio. The video has disturbing graphic footage of burnt bodies with the clothes intact, as if someone had dressed up the skeltons- but in fact they were fried with white phosphorus, a chemical that does nothing to clothing, but burns flesh to the bone. Is it a chemical weapon?

Of course the US denied that they used white phosphorus, then they said, ok we use it, but only for illumination purposes. Then an April issue of Field Artillery Magazine in which a soldier is quoted talking about “shake and bake” missions, where they alternate WP and explosive mortar rounds. So the army recanted further, a public relations nightmare having to say ok, sorry we lied before, but trust us, now we’re telling the truth, we did do shake and bake, but it wasn’t on civilians, so it’s ok- it’s not a chemical weapon or a war crime.

In one month the Army went from complete denial of its use, to now, White Phosphorus is a legitimate weapon.

Then lo and behold, a declassified military document is uncovered that refers to Saddam using the “chemical weapon” White Phosphorus.

When Saddam used WP it was a chemical weapon, but when we use WP it’s not a chemical weapon because “we’re the good guys”. Maybe some Americans still believe this, but the rest of the world is appalled at the ridiculous hypocrisy. Napalm and White Phosphorus- that’s liberation?

Top Stories: Cheney source of Torture, Congressman warns of Martial Law

Filed under: misc, Katrina, US Govt, mercenaries, headline news, PNAC — ben @ 3:02 pm

Cheney alleged source of new “American” torture policies.
Retired U.S. Army Col. Larry Wilkerson, who served as former Secretary of State Colin Powell’s chief of staff,

“There’s no question in my mind where the philosophical guidance and the flexibility in order to do so originated — in the vice president of the United States’ office,” he said. “His implementer in this case was (Defense Secretary) Donald Rumsfeld and the Defense Department.”

Is Bush Lying about his Lies?

The buck stops in the Oval Office. If the president was not deliberately lying to the American people, he nonetheless presided over what was in effect and in truth a massive deception. He would be much wiser to admit his mistake and assume responsibility, but it is apparently not in his character to do so.

Moreover at least three-fifths of the American people now believe that he did in fact deceive them. The question arises as to whether he and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld are also deceiving us on the certainty of victory in Iraq. Granting for the sake of an argument that we must train a functioning Iraq army, why will no one in the administration predict how long that will take? Why after several years of that effort is there only one fully capable Iraqi unit (of 750 men)?

Media Matters: Fox News has Woolsey and Perle debate Iraq, it’s a fake debate because they’re both members of the Defense Policy Board.

But Media Matters missed the boat, because the more damning fact is that they’re both members of PNAC. That’s what Fox “News” is selling…? A debate between two PNAC members is “Fair and Balanced” ? Oh My God. It’s unbelievable that anyone buys that crap…. to end the war, everyone should buy the Highjacking Catastrophe DVD (which exposes PNAC) for their Fox News watching friends and family.

Martial Law: Congressman Ron Paul on the Alex Jones Show

“They [Bush, Cheney] are putting their back up against the wall and saying, if need be we’re going to have martial law.”

“We’ve heard all these statements by the President, by the administration, why they need more militarism at the federal government to keep people in check so nobody knows how this will turn out but I do know that the only thing we can do about it is try to alert the American people to what’s going on so they can be prepared.”

Camp Casey: Christmas Concert in Crawford

Filed under: misc, Camp Casey, Iraq, headline news — ben @ 2:16 pm

re: (Camp Casey bad news) So what we need is some real people down there, offering practical, intelligent ideas and solutions to really end this evil war- we’ve got to stop following the fake leaders with bad ideas.

My suggestion is to ask Mr. Mattlege if we can rent his 160 acre parcel for the month of December, where we can host a Christmas Concert in Crawford, and perhaps a New Year’s Bash, maybe even a March to Prairie Chapel Ranch with 50,000 unhappy campers.

advantages:
In the wide open space of Texas, there is no need for riot cops.
People, esp college students have time off
Our request, a live tv debate
if Bush refuses, we force him to flee via helicopter
there is plenty of time to set this up and get the word out.

This is so do-able… Maybe we’ll even find an American leader willing to speak the words similar to Ukraine’s Yushchenko, ~ we will stay as long as it takes.

Intentionally targeting journalists-the list of war crimes grows

Filed under: misc, Iraq, US Govt, headline news — Lula @ 3:25 pm

protestaljazeera

The Daily Mirror has leaked information that our devoted tyrant W recommended bombing al Jazeera in Qatar. With the reaction of Downing Street threatening legal action against anyone else who reported on it, what more proof do we need that the report is accurate? Thanks Tony. Knowing what these madmen are capable of, we now need to look back and re-evaluate the ‘truth’ we have been told about the events in Iraq. Giuliana Sgrena’s statements that she was purposely targeted inside the green zone don’t seem so far fetched. And the day the US hit the Palestine Hotel, Al Jazeera, and Abu Dhabi!!! At least one woman is fighting back…

The widow of Tariq Ayyoub, the journalist from satellite TV network Al Jazeera, who was killed when the station’s Baghdad offices were bombed in 2003, says she is considering sueing the US government over his death. The revelation follows reports in British newspaper The Daily Mirror, that US president George W. Bush planned to bomb Al Jazeera’s headquarters in Qatar but was talked out of it by British prime minister Tony Blair.

Dima Tahboub, wife of the 35-year-old journalist, says she may take legal action, because “The report proves the cold-blooded murder of my husband.”

“America always claimed it was an accident. But I believe the new revelations prove that claim was false or at least trustworthy,” the Daily Mirror reported her as saying. “I will seek legal advice in light of this new information to achieve justice,” she added.

Ayyoub died on 8 April 2003, when his office on the west bank of the Tigris river in Baghdad was hit by at least two American missiles as he reported from the roof. That same morning US tanks fired at the Palestine Hotel, which was used by scores of journalists, killing two of them. The offices of Abu Dhabi TV, some 300 metres away from the Al Jazeera office, were also hit that day. Following the attacks the Pentagon said it would never intentionally target journalists.

The White House has dismissed claims it planned to bomb Al Jazeera’s headquarters in Qatar, with a spokesman saying on Tuesday: “We are not going to dignify something so outlandish with a response.”

Imagine what bad luck to accidentally hit three separate journalist locations in one day. Just how stupid does the white house think we are?

And then the next question to be asked is…just what are they hiding in Iraq? What are they doing to those poor people that they don’t want anyone to report? If they are willing to commit war crimes to shut down journalists, it makes one wonder what heinous war crimes they are covering up.protestaljazeera2

Thanksgiving in Iraq

Filed under: misc, Iraq, US Govt, headline news — Lula @ 11:25 am

A somber Thanksgiving for U.S. troops

Twenty-two-year old Sgt. George Servino, Jr. of the U.S. Army’s 1st Battalion 23rd infantry, didn’t celebrate Thanksgiving last year.

A dinner was prepared for the troops, Servino said, but he didn’t feel like celebrating.

“Thanksgiving was just another day. I didn’t go to the feast. … I wasn’t in the mood,”

As the holiday season begins, and friends and family come together to celebrate, troops overseas say being away from loved ones becomes even harder.

Servino’s family “is all about Thanksgiving,” he said, with over 50 members of extended family and friends filling the Servino household every year to celebrate the holiday.

“The thing that got to me (was) when I talked to my mom a couple of days after Thanksgiving; they told me that they spent Thanksgiving at my uncle’s house because they didn’t even want to have it at my house without me there,” Servino said.

When Christmas arrived in Iraq, Servino said he still did not feel like celebrating. But unlike Thanksgiving, his mother tried to celebrate the day like they always did.

Still, Servino says it was difficult for his family to cope with his absence during the important time for the them.

“They celebrated Christmas because of what I told her before,” Servino said, but added it was difficult for his mom to take family pictures without him. His mom would also often wear pieces of his clothing just to be able to smell him, he said.

“She told me that a piece of (her) was missing,” Servino said.

This story is from last year. One year and thousands of deaths and maimings later…how many more families suffer this holiday season? This Thanksgiving, as Americans enjoy the comfort of their homes and families, it might be nice to think about the troops still stuck in Iraq because of our National Apathy. It is time for Americans to finally face the truth about the war in Iraq. I know that denial is a powerful thing. I know it doesn’t feel good when you find your trust has been abused, that you have been misled by an insane madman. But the truth will set us free.

To whomever feels that the troops want to stay and ‘finish the job’- It is time to explore the basic tenet of Christianity “Do unto others…”

Thanksgiving FlyerHow would you feel if you found out all your sacrifice for the last several years was for profit and corporate greed? How would you feel if you found out you lost your leg, your best friend, your spirit…all for money? How would you feel if you were forced to kill another human being, and you found out it was for Halliburton? You see, the facts aren’t going to change, whether we face it now or later. It is never going to get easier on these brave men and women to find out the war is based on lies, that their trust has been abused.

These brave soldiers signed up to protect our country, they put their lives on the line for US- how many more years will we let them rot in Iraq because people in denial can’t handle the truth? We owe the troops the truth, and to bring them home to safety. It is the least we can do!

Critic of war assails Cheney: Kucinich Calls for Hearings on False Statements

Filed under: misc, Iraq, US Govt, headline news — Lula @ 7:15 pm

Just as Cheney is lashing out at Democrats calling questions about the war “revisionism of the most corrupt and shameless variety”

“Any suggestion that prewar information was distorted, hyped, fabricated by the leader of the nation is utterly false,” Cheney said, decrying the “self-defeating pessimism” of many Democrats. He added that to begin withdrawing from Iraq now, as some lawmakers have suggested, “would be a victory for the terrorists.”

Kucinich has answered back with a call for accountablity

I am requesting that the Government Reform Committee hold a hearing on the war in Iraq and specifically the role that Vice President Richard Cheney, and his staff, played in leading this nation to war.

We now know that the Vice President, and his aides, were at the forefront of the Administration planning and execution of the war in Iraq. We also now know that many of the statements made by Vice President Cheney have turned out to be false and misleading.

The Vice President has had great influence in leading the United States into war in Iraq, and has used his influence to make false statements, mislead the public and attack those who oppose the war and have demanded accountability…

The Vice President should be immediately invited to appear before our committee and given the opportunity to provide our committee with the facts to support his claims. If he refuses, our committee should use its subpoena power to require his appearance.
