Cindy Sheehan on Hunger Strike at the White House
“We’ve marched, held vigils, lobbied Congress, camped out at Bush’s ranch, we’ve even gone to jail, now it’s time to do more”
“This war is a crime,” the icon mother told a crowd of clapping, cheering protesters.
“We represent millions of Americans who withdraw their support from this government.”
Millions of American have just watched in disgust as our congress ignored the will of the American people and voted against setting a timetable for withdrawing our troops from Iraq. Who exactly are they representing and what course of action do ‘we the people’ have at this point?
Cindy Sheehan has began a hunger strike at the White House and is pledging to stay as long as it takes until our government does right by our troops and the Iraqi people and returns US troops from Iraq immediately. If you browse around the net however, you wouldn’t even know that she and 150 patriots are camped out in direct confrontation of Bush and his policies. Cindy is providing the spark, but she needs our help to spread the word and raise the volume of our demands for justice.
Cindy needs our support to stop this war now. It is time to start asking questions of everyone who still supports these war crimes, starting with your ‘representative’ and senators.

When discussing the 4th of July with friends and family, perhaps now is the time to gently remind them of the meaning of the holiday.
Sheehan said just because Tuesday is the 4th of July does not mean we should be celebrating.
“Everybody needs to stand up, go out of their comfort zone,” Sheehan said. “And I don’t understand how people can party tomorrow while people are suffering.”
Don’t just sympathize, open the window and yell,
“We’re mad as hell and we’re not taking it anymore!”

We are like that flock of people who came out from Egypt with Moses. They could have avoided their 40 year sojourn in the wilderness if they’d had more courage. They were at the mountain separating their promised land from the desert wilderness, and Moses sent 10 spies to have a look around and see whether they could conquor it. Eight of them came back, saying they appeared as ‘grasshoppers’ to the furriners, that the land would consume them in their attempt to conquor it.
Our once proud country is owned by the corporations, and eight out of 10 of the people we look to for information about how we might get rid of the corporate powers that be say, ‘No, we can’t do it, we’re nothing but grasshoppers compared with them,’ even though our Constitution does say this land is ours.
Just how many years are we going to wander through the wilderness with this mess — or are we going to leave it up to our children to clean it up?

We are in deep shit. While the people of America soundly sleep, our Constitution and Bill of Rights have been completely shredded. It’s too late now to save this country with hunger strikes and lobbying. Nothing short of another REVOLUTION has a snowball’s chance in hell to save what’s left. The dollar is set to bust soon, so all of us can finally see the people who sit in their “comfort zone” watching Faux News finally be pushed out of their homes, and onto the mean streets. Can you imagine the look on their faces, as their make-up runs off their face into a sick sort of sludge, as they finally realize that IT WAS PLANNED ALL ALONG. By the way, Happy fourth.

The 4th of July is national kick out your current government and install a new one day. So let’s take this month and do just that. I mean if a bunch of guys 200 years ago can do it so can we. All we have to do is remove EVERY member of our current government and put the nation on hold maybe a week or two while we install 24 hr surveillance systems to watch every politician every moment of every day while they represent us. Call it a perk of the job that they get a lot of TV time. TRANSPARENT government that works like open source software is the answer here. 1 term each, checks and balances, CONSTANT surveillance made available on public TV with full audio/video LIVE. plus get rid of these jobs that stay while presidents come and go. You know like limit the time anyone can be involved in the Government at all. Oh and lets do something about the military industrial complex like Ike was telling us. Like maybe stop them from being able to buy politicians then make all patents publically available after 1 year or something like that to stop the suppression of technologies that exist that can solve ALL energy problems definitively. Or just make it illegal to hide certain tech advances from the people or easy licensing or something. My point here being… Let’s physically remove ALL gov employees and elected officials one at a time if neccessary due to national security reasons they will never be eligible for office again etc. Once they are removed (give them NO time to clean up) then we can sort through the mess they made and issue a public apology to our children for taking so long to do this.

Cindy must be credited with her vigilence at trying to stop the war. Unfortunately, it will not work. The US gov’t doesn’t care. What can one expect from a gov’t that cages protestors, forces book outlets to drop the book “America Deceived” by E.A. Blayre III and illegally wire-taps all Americans? Cindy eat a burger and forget this endeavor. A Revolution is the only way left.

Cindy, I appreciate you so much! You care about the issues, not your image (unlike so many) and you are willing to make the sacrifice necessary to do this non-violently. I don’t agree with the talk about revolution because violence only begets more violence and the cycle never stops. What I am doing, and what I think everyone needs to do (not the only thing to do but one thing that is important) is to educate people about what is really happening in the war in Iraq. Our war is not helping Iraq. It is tearing the country to pieces, and the pieces are bloody and cruel. I’d like to see an America united against the evil of war and violence because they finally understand (if we give them that understanding) that invading and occupying other countries solves nothing and only brings more suffering. I think this summerizes what many of you are saying quite nicely, though I’m convinced one may use nonviolent means towards this end:

Why aren’t ALL the blogs talking about this? Gold Star Families for peace link goes to a very old post. Afterdowningstreet.com…all the sites that are supposed to be supporting Cindy are letting her down.
Media Benjamin of code pink wrote about this and didn’t even mention Cindy Sheehan, an internationally known mother who has challenged Bush openly and been all over the corporate media. cindy is the spark we need, not code pink who has embarrassed themselves by protesting at walter reed military hospital among other things.
ken Lay died(yeah sure) and that is ALL OVER the news, but only the international media cares about Cindy on hunger strike at the White House? Can’t the blogosphere at least unite in support of Cindy?
It looks like we are going to have to spread the word about this protest ourselves!

Hi Cindy,
In solidarity! On the fourth I was out with my vigil buddies (we’ve been protesting out on our city’s corner for five years now every week) and decided that we needed to take give a differnent message besides the usual “No War” “No Bush”. Our recent sign said “The War On Terror is a Fraud — 911truth.org” because we have to acknowledge that it is just not just Bush and it is not just the war but it’s a systemic problem with country. It is run by a truly evil secret government and congress knows this, yet does nothing. We have to start looking a the problem in a much deeper way, otherwise nothing will ever change. Stop the war, stop the insanity! Expose the evil by reveling the inside job of 911!

It’s been a week, is she dead yet? I’m sure its just a symbolic hunger strike and she’s not suffering at all. You liberals are all about symbolism but cannot grasp actual substance. You want the war to be over because soldiers are dying, yet you hate the military. If it wasn’t for our military, you probably wouldn’t be here much less be able to spout your hilarious “opinions”.
By the way, its been almost 5 years and how many terrorist attacks have we suffered since 9/11? Oh, Zero? Well, thank you Mr. Bush
