Wisconsin Governor subpoenas oil executives- PUBLIC Hearing Dec 1st

Posted By ben On 30th November 2005 @ 09:12 In US Govt, headline news | No Comments

The price of gas at an all-time high, oil companies making record profits… are we being scammed? That’s what Wisconsin Gov. Doyle intends to find out this Thursday, Dec 1st. bellaciao.org:

Were we taken advantage of? Did corporate oil executives use these two national tragedies (Katrina & Rita) to cash in? Governor Doyle’s administration is estimating that Wisconsin consumers have overpaid oil companies more than $113 million.

Under the authority of Wisconsin’s trade and consumer protection law, the Governor has subpoenaed oil company executives to appear in Wisconsin for this public hearing.

The CEOs of Chevron, Exxon, Conoco Phillips, BP and Shell (Chairman) have been subpoenaed- just a few weeks after they were caught lying to Congress. This time they’ll be testifying under oath, so it is imperative that somebody ask them questions on the topic they lied about last time, Cheney’s Energy Task Force. (Hint Hint- if you live within driving range of Wisconsin…)
