Speaker Hastert on Oil Companies Price Gouging

Filed under: Iraq, US Govt, Class Warfare, headline news, Peace MP3s — ben @ 12:27 am

The Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert in his very first blog entry:

“while Americans paying were record prices at the pump, energy companies were making record profits.

This is America. And Republicans don’t believe in punishing success. “

Who is Hastert working for, the American People or Oil Company Executives?

pig at the trough

The price of everyday goods is way up, gas is nearly triple what it was before the war, millions of Americans, especially truckers can’t make ends meet, while Exxon earns record profits?! It’s *$#%ing sick!

Rep. Bernie Sanders has asked Congress to investigate the price gouging, but that’s probably just another year long investigation that will lead nowhere…

It’s like they’re laughing at what they can get away with. Enron ‘overstated’ Billions, thousands of employees lost their life savings, yet Ken Lay walks free while people are tasered 9 times and killed for loitering, Halliburton has ‘earned’ billions paying Pakistanis and Filipinos pennies to work in Iraq, Bremer’s CPA ‘lost’ $9 billion in Iraq, the Pentagon ‘lost’ 2.3 Trillion… and this is just the money being STOLEN from US.

There’s also the unjust systems such as Prisons for Profit are represented on the NYSE, and now America has the highest incarceration rate of any industrialized nation- 1 million non-violent prisoners equals easy money… who’s making money on the drug war? the prison industries, the weapons makers, the mafia, the CIA, the pharmaceuticals… even Monsanto makes money selling roundup to be sprayed on coca plants, incidentally poisoning the natives in Columbia. This is just sick.

At what point will America say ENOUGH! Imagine if we had spent $300 billion investing in alternative technology. Imagine a living wage for while our brilliant minds develop and deploy solar, wind and tidal power in all 50 states. Imagine a gov’t actually providing for it’s people in a beneficial way for all, not sending the poor to kill and die so rich pigs can get even richer.

These thieves in high places are laughing while our (children’s)national debt has passed the $8 trillion while thousands of our youth are being used as cannon fodder (mp3) for the elite.

One Response to “Speaker Hastert on Oil Companies Price Gouging”

  1. ben Says:

Hastert goes even further, this from his official site speaker.house.gov:

“The price of oil and natural gas will continue to be hard on our nation’s economy, consumers, and families. This year’s winter promises large increases in the cost of home heating and natural gas. And high gasoline prices are likely well into the future.

“Oil and gas companies are enjoying record profits. That is fine. This is America.

“However, there have been allegations of price gouging in the wake of the hurricanes. This is unacceptable, and any company who does it will be prosecuted.

“Our oil companies need to do more to inform the American people about what they are doing to bring down the cost of oil and natural gas. When are new refineries going to be built? When is the Alaska pipeline deal going to be signed? ConocoPhillips has reached an agreement with the state of Alaska on the pipeline; Exxon and BP need to do the same.

    New Refineries- that’s the solution?

Isn’t it clear that if Exxon had cut the price at the pump then their profits might have been less but millions of Americans would have a bit more cash to put towards food and the family.

Is this an America you can be proud of Mr. Hastert? with 38 million in poverty and wealthy stockholders get richer on prison industries, while you take a pay raise while rejecting a min. wage hike, cutting food stamps and school lunches. This is America- greed rules? You f*#$ing suck Mr. Hastert, i hope you are thrown out of office asap.

Secondly, there’s an 18 cent/gal federal gas tax- they could temporarily rescind that and cut everyone a break, but noooo- they must keep their billionaire tax cuts and screw the rest of us.

Congress is not working for we the people, they’re working for themselves and their elite masters.
