JOE EDWARDS, JR., 9TH WARD RESIDENT: I heard something go BOOM!

MUIR: Joe Edwards rushed to get himself and as many neighbors as possible into his truck. They drove to this bridge, where they’ve been living ever since

EDWARDS: My house broke in half. My mother’s house just disintegrated. It was a brick house. All the houses down there floated down the street like somebody’s guiding ‘em

MUIR: Was it solely the water that broke the levee, or was it the force of this barge that now sits where homes once did? Joe Edwards says neither. People are so bitter, so disenfranchised in this neighborhood, they actually think the city did it, blowing up the levee to save richer neighborhoods like the French Quarter.

MUIR: So you’re convinced . . .

EDWARDS: I know this happened!

MUIR: . . . they broke the levee on purpose?

EDWARDS: They blew it!

So New Orleans resident Mr. Edwards heard an explosion just before the levee broke… seems like it’s worthy of an investigation, but instead the mainstream media buries the story. Implications?

This ” boom ” was not explosives but the sound of concrete tearing apart. Use your head - this is not something that was done to make sure one part of the city was flooded and one part saved. If they had been unable to breech the levee the whole city would have gone under. To say the city level govnmt officials would do this is ludicrious.

Thank GOD it was not worse and start rebuilding. It is a wonderful city with many wonderful people. Work together instead of looking for someone to blame. Until the blaming stops and we all work together nothing will be accomplished.

Pam, I’ll bet before the Iraq war you also said, “To accuse the gov’t of lying to start a war is ludicrous.”

As it turns out, that would have been an incorrect statement. Of course you would like to believe that the ‘boom’ was the sound of concrete ripping, if for no other reason than to ease your comfort. Why not demand an investigation? If the levee was blown then it was a MAJOR crime- but you’d rather not even bother to look at it?

    Why not investigate it?

Hmmm, use your head? lol I don’t think that if we did a test of how concrete sounds when ripping it would go “boom” even in my dreams…

Also, who said it was the city level employees? Muir says it, but we don’t know how he came up with that… I personally doubt that it was the city level employees. But I do think someone did it, someone with the power to silence the media. There was at least one AP report related to this issue that was quickly pulled. And many other persons have reported related suspicious conversations and observations. Of course, these will never hit the main media either…

My main question is why do people dismiss as ludicrous what they actually know nothing about. In reality, how are we to really know the truth? There is no good reason to believe that this man, or the others who have made similar reports, or the AP story are figments of anyone’s imagination.

It is a duty as a true American to push to learn the truth about things that really do matter, and not sit idly by believing their leaders are saints who can or would never do wrong.

Of course, a “mistake” could have been made which created a “boom” which, under the cover of the hurricane confusion and upset, can easily be dismissed as “a fantasy” or “rediculus” in the name of “stopping the blame game”. And again they slide on by….

  4. Evan Says:

if you’ve never heard concrete rip apart, it’s a very low thunderous sound, sort of like a “boom.” with all the pressure built up I’m sure the boom would have been very loud and overpowering, like a bomb going off in a small room. Kathrine, you’re too quick to assume that the government you disagree with has something to do with the flooding. Why not start doing something productive like acknowledging the fact that there is a problem and do your best to help those who are already trying to rebuild. Instead of being a couch politician with your absurd accusations, support the country and support the aid to Katrina victims. Use your own head, don’t let those lesser minded protesters steer you in the wrong direction

Hah, you liberal are hilarious, use some common sense. If you are so anti-goverment as it seems from what you are saying, then leave the fucking country.
